Practical Information

Scandinavian citizens do not need a passport to go to Denmark - only identification card with photo.
All other must bring a valid passport.
The date of expiry must be at least 6 month after the departure date.

Applicants from some countries have to apply for a visa at your local consulate (e.g. Ukraine, Moldova, India, Hongkong, but please check your self about your own country)

Post offices
In Denmark post offices are normally open from 9.00 or 10.00 to 17.00.
Saturdays 9.00 or 10.00 to 12.00.
Small post offices have shorter opening hours.

The Ambulance alarm telephone number is 112.
The Police alarm telephone number is 114.
Those numbers can be toll free also from pay phones.

Banks are normally open from 10.00 to 16.00. Saturday and Sunday closed.
Credit cards can also be used at ATM's, and you will easily find an ATM.
Many restaurants and shops accept foreign currencies (Euro etc.) and credit cards
Currency: 100 DKK is about 13,40 Euro

The Danish climate is temperate coastal, the coldest month is statistically February with 0,0 degrees Celsius,
August is the warmest with an average of 15,7 degrees.
The heat record is from August 1975 with 36,4 degrees. So prepare for a weather that may be both warm and sunny or cold and rainy. So remenber to bring warm close with you.

Drinking water and food
At every host family and at the camp we have clean drinking water.
Our vegetables and fruit are clean and our meat and fish are high quality.

Some of you will need to go by train from the arrival Airport to the host Family after you arrive and from the camp to the departure Airport when you leave. Please bring Money to these expenses.
The transportation from the host Family stay and to the camp, will normally be arranged by the host Family.
Those of you going from Copenhagen Airport to Camp B, C, E by train, will need money for the train ticket about 50 EURO each way.
You can also choose domestic flights, however it is recommended to use the train as this is more frequent and at a lower cost.

Pocket money
We recommend all YES to bring at least DKK 500 per week (70 Euro) to cover expenses during the host family stay, as meals outside the camp, medicines if needed, hygienic items, sun protector and needed items for personal use, tickets for entertainment, souvenirs' and gifts.

Quiet hours
In observance of the camp policy and to insure the maximum benefit and pleasure for all participants in all scheduled activities, we must insist that quiet hours will be maintained from midnight to 06.30 next morning.
You must be in your room for the evening no later than 24.00 midnight.
There will be internet access at the camp site at dedicated hours

Country Presentation
Please prepare a presentation of your country, your hometown, perhaps you have a visual presentation or some slides, some brochures or even postcards to show the others where and how you live.
We have planned some Country presentation Evenings where all of you will present your own country for all of us.
No tourist DVD may be used. The presentation may last no more than 10 - 15 minutes.
A PC and Microsoft Office PowerPoint application will be available.

  • - 1 pair shower or beach footwear
  • - 1 swim suit
  • - 1 or 2 pairs of casual shorts
  • - 2 pair of jeans or long trousers
  • - 1 long sleeve pullover or zippered sweater
  • - 1 sweat-shirt
  • - 1 wind jacket
  • - Rain gear
  • - 1 camp T-shirt will be provided and is required to be worn on trips outsite the camp

  • - Suncream, moisturizers, cosmetics etc.

  • - Adapters & voltage converters (Denmark uses 230 Volts, 50 Hz AC and the European standard plug)
